One-Derful! - The Chicago Masters 1965-1968
24,50 €
One of the most revered Deep Soul singers of the Sixties alongside the likes of James Carr, Percy Sledge and O. V. Wright…
OTIS CLAY was born in Waxhaw, Mississippi in 1942. He grew up singing in the church graduating into one of the greatest gospel quartets of all time – the Sensational Nightingales. Clay made the jump to secular music in 1962 and signed to the Chicago based ‘One-derful!’ label eventually landing a national R&B hit with “That’s How It Is”, a fine testament to his towering talent.
In truth, Otis Clay never achieved the level of success that he truly deserved. In later life he found huge success in Japan and also recorded the original version of “The Only Way Is Up”, a European chart-topper for Yazz and The Plastic Machine.
Here, for the very first time, we present the complete ‘One-derful!’ recordings including unreleased material.
