He crossed paths with the legendary Robert Johnson and learned the now legendary songs such as \u2018Dust My Broom\u2019 and \u2018Standing At The Crossroads\u2019, both of which are featured here. He became known as the \u201cKing Of the Slide Guitar\u201d playing his modified \u2013 electrified \u2013 acoustic which he fashioned in his brothers workshop. He began recording soon after, scoring a top-ten R&amp;B hit with \u2018Dust My Broom\u2019 on Trumpet. His final recordings were cut for Bobby Robinson\u2019s Fire and Enjoy labels in the late \u201950s and early \u201960s. Robinson later recalled, \u201cI drove by a club on the South side (of Chicago) and saw a sign that read Elmore James Here Tonight. I went inside and stayed all night listening to him. I introduced myself, we went out for a bite to eat and I talked about recording. The next morning Elmore called his band together for a rehearsal.
