As well as superlative versions of Ornette\u2019s \u201cLonely Woman\u201c and \u201cOpen or Close\u201c this highly influential album, now regard as a classic of new jazz, includes pieces by Cherry and Blackwell inspired by African music, Redman\u2019s enigmatic \u201cOrbit of La-Ba\u201d, and Haden\u2019s impressionistic \u201cSong for the Whales\u201d.
