Led by drummer and bandleader Chico Hamilton, The Dealer features appearances from Archie Shepp (playing piano on his composition “For Mods Only”), Richard Davis, Arnie Lawrence, and, most notably, the recording debut of guitarist Larry Coryell, who lends a bluesy edge to a solid and mellow soul-jazz outing.
